Cleaning and Storing Your Sex Toys

Cleaning and Storing Your Sex Toys

Buying and using your new sex toy is always the best part about your new adventure. It's something about going into a store or shopping online and browsing through the different products and their different functions that can give you a rush but can also overwhelm some. But once you have your new toy in hand you become eager to use it and see what all the chaos is about. While charging, you read the instruction manual to ensure you're using it properly. (you don't want to go up when you want to go down, total buzzkill)

Fast forward to you've used your new toy and you just want to roll over and go to sleep or head into the kitchen to get something to satisfy that appetite you just finished working up. You look at the mess on your new toy and decide to just wipe it off with a towel, throw it in your drawer or under your pillow and be done. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!! No matter the material a good cleaning after EVERY use is necessary if you want to keep your toy for as long as you possibly can.

Whether your new sex tech gadget is porous or non-porous using a mild soap and warm water to rinse off your toy is always a go-to, and don't forget the cheapest route. If it's a porous material you could also go a little further and boil, to ensure you've gotten all of the potentially harmful bacteria that could be hiding out. Of course make sure your toy is waterproof/water resistant before putting any liquids on your toy. (you can find this out in the instruction manual)

If your looking for something that is made specifically for cleaning adult toys, you could always pickup an alternative like a specialized alcohol free, antibacterial spray. With a spray your able to spray and wipe, simple as that.

What may not be as simple is finding the correct place to store your new friend. You may think that placing it in your drawer is just the right thing to do, especially since that drawer is probably easy to access from your bed, but it's not always the right thing to do if not done correctly. If your going to go the drawer route, or any route for that matter, make sure that nothing sharp or liquid is in the drawer or area where you are storing your collection. Sharp objects have the potential to puncture your toy, making it unsafe to use. Like some liquids could cause your toy to have a smell and may not be compatible with the material your toy is made out of, also making the toy unsafe for use. When storing your toy you want to make sure you wrap it in a cloth that's not going to attract dust, for example; a silk/cotton cloth, non-sanitizing/sanitizing storage case are all ideal to use. Luckily, a lot of sex toys come with their own dust bags/storage cases.

Besides a dust free environment, we also want our toys to be away from moisture when storing between sessions. Although your toy is most likely waterproof/water resistant, we still want to make sure when it's not in use there is no moisture insight. Your toy maybe non-porous, but it is still susceptible to harboring harmful bacteria and growing mold on the surface (yuck) if not dried and stored properly. At that point it's highly recommended that you throw that toy out. Even after a serious cleaning, your still not 100% sure you got everything off that could land you in the ER with a nasty infection. This is why making sure your toy is 100% dry before wrapping it up and storing is VERY important, even if you are using a spray.

Although figuring what method to clean and store your toy isn't always fun, but you will thank yourself later when you'll be able to enjoy your toy(s) orgasm after orgasm.

Stay Safe & Enjoy!!
